Echinacea purpurea
Composition: Fresh above-ground parts harvested at flowering time.
Use: Internal for supportive treatment of colds and chronic infection of respiratory and urinary tract.
External for poorly healing wounds and chronic ulcers.
Action: White blood cells and spleen cells increase. Phagocytosis by granulocytes is activated. Body temperature is elevated.
Contraindications: None known for external use. No internal use with progressive systemic diseases. No parenteral use if allergic.
Side Effects: None known.
Cautions: Do not use longer than 8 weeks. Allergic reactions may occur with parenteral use.
